Forklift Safety Training
Our forklift safety training courses will help keep your employees safe on the job and allow you to meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training requirements. Our safety videos and training materials address operation, stability, and maintenance so your operators are prepared for any situation.
What type of forklift safety training is required?
OSHA 1910.178(l)(2)(ii) stipulates that forklift operator training should consist of formal instruction like videos and written material, hands-on training, and an evaluation of the operator’s performance. Training must address both truck-related and workplace-related safety.
Truck-related topics include operating instructions and precautions, the difference between a forklift and an automobile, controls, engine or motor operation, steering and maneuvering, operating limits, visibility, attachments, capacity, stability, inspection and maintenance, and refueling or recharging.
Workplace safety topics include surface conditions, load composition, load manipulation, pedestrian traffic, restricted movement, hazardous locations, sloped surfaces, closed environments, and any other unique or potentially hazardous environmental conditions.
Who needs forklift safety training?
Anyone who will operate a forklift or powered industrial truck requires training, and OSHA regulations specify that forklift operators must be 18 years of age or older. Trainees may only operate a forklift under supervision of a trainer and when operation doesn’t endanger themselves or others.
How much does forklift safety training cost and what’s included?
Our forklift and powered industrial truck operator safety training programs range from $195 to $280 for DVD and USB options. The forklift certification course comes with a full-length training video, presenter’s guide, PowerPoint, trainee quiz, forklift inspection form, operator evaluation form, certificate of completion, and operator wallet cards. It can be purchased once and reused for multiple cohorts of trainees, making it an economical option.
Online safety training costs $995 per year for 1 to 50 employees and gives you unlimited access to over 250 safety videos in our library.
Who can provide forklift safety training?
Per OSHA Standard 1910.178(l)(2)(iii), operator training and evaluation must be conducted by someone who has the knowledge, training, and experience to train and evaluate forklift drivers. An employer can designate a knowledgeable employee to conduct training and certification or hire a third-party trainer.
How often is forklift safety training required?
Forklift operators must be evaluated at least once every three years. However, refresher training is required if an operator operates a forklift unsafely, is involved in an accident or near-accident, needs to operate a different type of truck, or experiences a change in workplace conditions.
Our forklift safety training kit is OSHA-compliant and includes resources to facilitate interactive in-person or online training. We offer both English and Spanish versions. Call us today to learn more and get your questions answered (800) 859-1870.
