What’s Included in Our PPE Safety Training Kits?

Our PPE training kits include a training video, presenter’s guide and presentation, quiz to test training comprehension, and a printable certificate of completion to document PPE certification.

Courses are available in English and Spanish, and offered in USB, DVD, and online formats. For a one-time fee of $239, you can conduct in-house training sessions as often as needed and make sure you comply with OSHA standards.

What Are OSHA’s PPE Training Requirements?

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard 1910.132(f) states that if an employee is required to use PPE they must be trained on when PPE is necessary, what PPE is necessary, how to properly use PPE, the limitations of PPE, and proper maintenance and care.

Our PPE training program covers all these general requirements. We also offer specialized courses on hearing safety, respirator safety, and eye safety.

After training, employees must show that they understand how to use the PPE properly before doing work that requires it.

How Do You Determine When PPE Is Needed in the Workplace?

PPE is required if workplace hazards are present or could be present in the workplace. To determine when personal protective equipment is needed and what types are appropriate, employers must conduct a hazard assessment per 1910.132(d). The assessment should be documented in writing, including the person who performed the evaluation, the workplace evaluated, and the date.

Specific sections in 1910 Subpart I detail requirements and criteria for different types of PPE such as eye and face protection, respiratory protection, head protection, foot protection, electrical protective equipment, hand protection, and more.

How Long Does PPE Training Take?

PPE training can typically be completed in 1 to 2 hours. Each of our training videos range from 14 to 21 minutes. In addition to classroom training, you should walk your employees through how to properly use necessary safety equipment like eye protection and body protection.

When Is PPE Retraining Required?

OSHA doesn’t  specify a timeframe for retraining. However, if employees show improper use or knowledge of PPE or workplace changes or changes in types of PPE needed makes previous training outdated, retraining is required.

What Other PPE Responsibilities Do Employers Have?

In addition to training employees, choosing proper PPE, and ensuring employees use PPE correctly, employers must also pay for most personal protective equipment, with a few exceptions such as non-speciality safety-toe protective footwear and non-specialty prescription safety eyewear. They must also reassess conditions and update PPE as needed to ensure workplace safety.
