Do your employees need HAZWOPER and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training? If so, then this HAZWOPER PPE training kit is for you.  This course will teach your HAZWOPER crew all about the Personal Protective Equipment that they will be using to do their jobs.

This HAZWOPER PPE Training Covers the Following:

  • What types of PPE might your employees be using, and what is each type of PPE used for? (Respirators, face shields, work boots, chemical protective clothing (CPC), hard hats, etc.)
  • What are the four categories of PPE used in a HAZWOPER situation?:
    • Level A – the highest level of protection
    • Level B – the second highest level of protection where totally encapsulating suits are not required, but a SCBA or SAR is required
    • Level C – one step above a relatively safe situation and where an air-purifying respirator can be used instead of a SCBA or SAR
    • Level D – used in areas that are “relatively” safe, and a respirator of any kind is not required.
  • What are the types of situations where level A protection is necessary? (areas with toxic or caustic fumes, where breathing the air might kill you, where positive pressure respirators are required, and more)
  • What are the two types of Level A positive pressure air-supplying respirators?
    • SCBAs or “Self Contained Breathing Apparatus”
    • SARs or “Supplied-air Respirators”
  • What is the differences between a SCBA and a SAR?
  • What are TECPC suits, and when and how are they used?
  • When should chemical resistance outer and inner gloves be used?
  • What types of gear would be used in a Level D situation?:
    • Chemical-resistant boots or shoes
    • Work gloves
    • Safety glasses
    • Coveralls
    • Chemical splash goggles (if appropriate)
  • What type of gear might be included in a Level C situation:
    • An air-purifying respirator instead of an air-supplying respirator
    • Chemical-resistant boots or shoes
    • Safety glasses
    • Work gloves
    • Chemical splash goggles
  • What type of gear might be included in a Level B situation:
    • Chemical-resistant inner and outer gloves
    • Chemical-resistant boots with steel toes or shanks
    • A hooded chemical splash suit
    • The appropriate Self Contained Breathing Apparatus or Supplied Air Respirator
  • What type of gear might be included in a  Level A situation:
    • A SCBA or SAR
    • Chemical-resistant inner and outer gloves
    • Chemical-resistant boots with steel toes or shanks
    • A totally-encapsulating suit or TECPC
  • How does heat stress affect the PPE that workers are using, how to avoid heat stress, and what to do if a work succumbs to a heat-related illness
  • How to handle a face shield or goggles that get “fogged.”
  • and much more….

Any type of HAZWOPER work is difficult but more importantly, it is also dangerous. Make sure that your employees know how to use their Personal Protective Equipment to keep them safe. This HAZWOPER PPE Training will help both you and your employees stay compliant with OSHA and safe on the job.  Available as an English or Spanish-speaking DVD or USB Stick.
