This DOT HAZMAT Security Awareness Training kit covers the security awareness component that 49 CFR 172.704(a)(4) requires for every employee who handles, loads, ships or transports hazardous materials, due within 90 days of hire. It is the third video in our DOT HAZMAT training set, after DOT HAZMAT general awareness training and safety training, and it is the hazmat security awareness training that most facilities are missing when DOT asks for records. This training video covers the following:

- What are the methods of enhancing HAZMAT security?
- How to recognize potential security threats as it relates to hazardous materials
- What specific actions can be taken during a security breach or attack?
Further discussion involves the “green section” of the DOT’s Emergency Response Guide Book as it relates to various substances and how they could affect the health and welfare of an entire community. The training also discusses how to protect a facility from a terror attack including barricades, fencing, and controlled access to the facility. Driving protocol, dispatch procedures, and facility protection procedures are all covered.
The video runs about 16 minutes and is available in English or Spanish, and in either DVD or USB Stick format.
