Are these NFPA 70E training videos free?

Is NFPA 70E required by law?

NFPA 70E itself is a voluntary consensus standard – but OSHA’s electrical regulations (29 CFR 1910 Subpart S) are law, and OSHA recognizes NFPA 70E as the standard method for meeting them. In practice, following 70E is how employers demonstrate compliant electrical safe work practices.

Does watching a free video make someone NFPA 70E qualified?

No. A qualified person must be trained and must demonstrate the skills and knowledge to work safely on or near energized parts. Videos build the knowledge; qualification requires hands-on training and a documented employer determination.

What is the arc-flash boundary?

The calculated distance from equipment at which an arc flash could still cause a second-degree burn. Inside it, arc-rated PPE is required – the equipment’s arc-flash label states the boundary and the PPE category or incident energy.

When is energized electrical work allowed?

Only when de-energizing is infeasible or would create a greater hazard – and then only under an energized electrical work permit, performed by qualified persons with a completed risk assessment and the required PPE. De-energize, lock out, and verify is the default.
