Free Forklift Training Videos, Toolbox Talk & Practice Test
These free forklift training videos are perfect for a quick toolbox talk, a safety meeting refresher, or previewing our training before you buy. They are awareness-level clips from our professionally produced Forklift Operator Training program, great for reinforcing safe habits but not a substitute for documented operator certification.
Every operator must be trained, evaluated, and certified by their employer under OSHA’s powered industrial truck standard, 29 CFR 1910.178. The free resources on this page help you run better safety meetings; the complete kit below is how you certify and document your team.

Take the Free Forklift Practice Test
Ten questions, instant score — see how you’d do on a real operator quiz, no sign-up needed. It’s the same practice test you can download below as a printable PDF for your next safety meeting.
Forklift Toolbox Talk + 10-Question Practice Test (PDF)
A ready-to-run, 5-minute toolbox talk with talking points, discussion questions, and a sign-in sheet, plus a 10-question practice test so you can see what operators need to know. Enter your email and we’ll send both right over.
What’s on the Forklift Written Test?
OSHA doesn’t publish an official forklift test. Employers build their knowledge evaluation around the topics in 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(3), and most written tests cover the same core ground:
- Truck controls, instrumentation, and capacity
- Pre-operation inspection requirements
- Load handling, stability, and the stability triangle
- Pedestrian traffic and blind spots
- Refueling and battery charging
- Surface conditions, ramps, and grades
Our free 10-question practice test (download above) shows the format. The complete kit includes the official quiz and answer key you’ll use for your documented certification records.
Need to Actually Certify Your Operators?
Free videos and a practice test are great for refreshers, but they won’t produce the wallet cards, official scored quizzes, sign-in sheets, and OSHA-defensible records a compliance audit requires. OSHA requires every forklift operator to be trained, evaluated, and certified by the employer, and re-evaluated at least every three years. Our Forklift Operator Training Kit gives you everything to train, test, and document your whole team, reusable for every new hire.

Forklift Training Questions
Does OSHA accept video training for forklift certification?
Video instruction can satisfy the formal-instruction portion of OSHA’s requirement, but 29 CFR 1910.178(l) also requires a practical, hands-on evaluation of each operator in your workplace before certification. Our kit provides the formal instruction, quiz, and documentation; you conduct and record the hands-on evaluation using the included forms.
Can I get a forklift certification online for free?
Be cautious with sites offering free or instant online forklift certification. Under OSHA, the employer, not a website, must certify each operator, and certification requires formal instruction, a knowledge evaluation, and a hands-on practical evaluation at your workplace on your equipment. A free certificate with no practical evaluation won’t hold up in an audit or after an accident. Free videos like the ones on this page can support the formal-instruction portion; the certification record is what our kit is built to produce.
How often do forklift operators need to be retrained?
OSHA requires each operator’s performance to be evaluated at least once every three years, plus refresher training whenever an operator is seen operating unsafely, is involved in an accident or near-miss, is assigned a different type of truck, or when workplace conditions change.
Are these free videos enough to certify my team?
No. The free previews are awareness-level only. Certification requires formal instruction, a knowledge evaluation, a practical hands-on evaluation, and employer documentation. The Forklift Operator Training Kit includes everything except the on-site hands-on drive, which only you can perform.
Can I reuse the kit for new hires?
Yes. It’s a one-time purchase you can use to train and certify every new operator, with no per-seat or per-user fees.
Do you offer the training in Spanish?
Yes. The forklift training kit is available in both English and Spanish. Each language version is sold separately at $239.
